Inuyasha

Inuyasha is a half-human, half-demon. Inuyasha was sealed to the sacred tree 500 years before the start of the series by the priestess Kikyo and released by Kagome who turns out to be Kikyo's reincarnation. Inuyasha partners up with Kagome to help find and collect all the shards of the Shikon Jewel and kill Naraku for manipulating the love and trust between him and Kikyo.

Kagome

Reincarnation of priestess who guarded the Sikon Jewel. Kagome Higurashi lives in modern day Tokyo, Japan. On her 15th birthday, Kagome is transported to the Feudal Era by a centipede demon seeking a hidden power within her body, The Shikon Jewel. After having the jewel ripped from her body and stolen by a crow demon. Kagome attempts to retrieve the Shikon Jewel. While doing so she accidentally shatters the jewel into hundreds of shards which spread across Feudal Japan.

Shippo

Young fox demon who lost his family. Shippo was orphaned by the Thunder Brothers, a team of two vicious demon brothers who desired to gain power by using the Shikon Jewel shards collected. He attempted to avenge the death of his father, Shippo was able to exact his revenge with the help of Inuyasha and Kagome. Shippo decided to join Inuyasha and Kagome on their quest to collect the shards of the Shikon Jewel.

Miroku

Perverted monk with a family curse. Miroku's grandfather was cursed with the wind tunnel by Naraku, to pass down to future generations. After seeing his father die from the curse, Miroku started his journey to seek out Naraku and kill him, hopefully releasing himself and his future family from the curse. Along the way he met Inuyasha, Kagome and Shippo who shared a similar hatred for Naraku and joined them on their journey.

Sango

Hailing from the Demon Slayer's Village. Sango is a very skilled demon slayer from a village of professional demon slayers. Naraku wipes out her entire family and village and pins the blame on Inuyasha, setting Sango up to kill Inuyasha. When Naraku's plan fails, Naraku revives Sango's little brother Kohaku, controlling him as a puppet to manipulate Sango. Sango seeks vengeance against Naraku, but her primary goal is to rescue Kohaku from Naraku's grasp and save his life.

Kirara

Two tailed cat demon "Nekomata". Sango's faithful fire cat demon companion and fighting partner.  Kirara is originally the companion of Midoriko, the priestess who created the Shikon Jewel. Kirara helps Sango with in-air combat.

Naraku

Spider demon who was born from the human Onigumo. Who offered his body to demons out of his desire to have the priestess Kikyo and the Sacred Jewel. Naraku is the primary antagonist. He was directly responsible for the death of Kikyo, the seal placed on Inuyasha, the curse of Miroku's wind tunnel, slaying the entire village of the demon slayers, manipulating Sango and Kohaku. Among many other hateful acts.

Sesshomaru

Inuyasha's older half-brother and full-blooded demon. Sesshomaru inherited his father's Tenseiga, a sword that can save 100 souls with one stroke. At first Sesshomaru despised fathers' decision to pass the powerful Tetsusaiga to Inuyasha instead of him, eventually he accepted that having the sword wasn't meant to happen. Sesshomaru appears to be very cold-hearted and emotionless. Emotions are difficult for him. He finally began showing compassion for humankind, allowing him to gain a sword of his own, the Bakusaiga.
